Recruiting Success Story - Quantitative Risk Analyst

A recruiting partner recently came to us with the task of finding a quantitative risk analyst near Chicago. The client company required an individual with experience in finance and risk management who could quickly become a part of the team and help contribute to its success. In addition, the company told us they were looking for an experienced individual who was comfortable with large data sets and knew Python. With this information, we conducted a search and found several qualified candidates.

We started by finding potential candidates that fit our criteria using standard recruitment tactics. Also, we researched potential candidates by canvassing our network of contacts in Chicago, browsing social media, and posting job ads on online job boards.

We received dozens of applications and résumés, which we sorted and graded based on experience and qualifications. Then, we spoke with all the qualified candidates to dig deeper, to get a better sense of their qualifications, experience, and motivation for the role. After reviewing the candidates, we presented our recruiting partner with a shortlist of the best-qualified candidates for the position. They ultimately decided on one candidate, who has been working with the employer for several months and is doing an excellent job.

The Importance of Networking

One of the things that made this recruitment successful was our use of networking. When finding talented individuals for open positions, it's often not what you know but who you know that makes all the difference.

Our firm has developed an extensive network of contacts over the years, which proved invaluable in this case. Once we had exhausted our resources, we reached out to our network to see if anyone knew anyone who might be a good fit for the position. As it turns out, one of our contacts knew somebody, and we were able to set up an interview.

While job boards and résumé databases can be helpful, there's no substitute for good old-fashioned networking when finding top talent. If you're not already networking within your industry, now is the time to start!
