Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive initial patient evaluations and assessments in an outpatient orthopedic setting

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's rehabilitation goals

  • Administer therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold therapy), and functional training

  • Provide patient education on exercise programs, injury prevention, posture correction, and home exercise protocols

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, occupational therapists, and athletic trainers to optimize patient outcomes

  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans to achieve optimal functional recovery

  • Complete thorough documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Educate patients and families on long-term wellness strategies and self-management techniques

  • Maintain clean, safe, organized treatment areas following infection control protocols and safety guidelines

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental training programs

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program required

  • Licensure: Valid New York State Physical Therapist license or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hire

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

  • Experience: Prior outpatient physical therapy experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient care and team collaboration

  • Strong organizational abilities and time-management skills in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Clinical expertise in treating orthopedic, neurological, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance

  • Physical ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, and patient transfers during treatment sessions

  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certifications in orthopedics, manual therapy, sports physical therapy, or related areas

  • APTA membership and continuing education participation

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation systems
