Clinical Nurse Coordinator - Labor & Delivery (Night Shift Leadership Role)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical nursing leadership and oversight for the Labor & Delivery unit during overnight shifts, serving as Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager

  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure efficient patient throughput and optimal bed management

  • Deliver direct patient care including assisting with deliveries and scrubbing in the operating room for cesarean sections as needed

  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care quality in collaboration with the nursing management team and clinical staff

  • Manage staffing assignments, scheduling adjustments, and labor resources according to patient acuity and established productivity standards

  • Lead service recovery initiatives and support a patient-first philosophy across all interactions

  • Implement evidence-based nursing strategies including hourly rounding, staff rounding, and employee engagement initiatives

  • Participate in staff recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, and performance management activities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and subject matter experts to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction

  • Ensure compliance with nursing policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices in maternal-child health

  • Maintain proper inventory control and resource management for unit supplies and equipment

  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff, fostering professional development and teamwork

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

  • Previous leadership experience in Women's Services, Labor & Delivery, NICU, or Mother-Baby units required (any duration considered)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment start date

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of employment start date

  • Demonstrated clinical competency in delivering babies and assisting with operative deliveries

  • Ability to work overnight shifts and serve as the primary nursing leader on duty

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills

  • Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
