NICU Nurse Manager - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RN Leadership Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to coordinate all NICU department activities, ensuring alignment with facility mission, vision, values, and long-range strategic plans

  • Lead and supervise neonatal intensive care nursing staff, providing clinical guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities

  • Coordinate department participation in Performance Improvement (PI) and Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety standards

  • Ensure evidence-based nursing care delivery utilizing the nursing process framework, with ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness

  • Provide direct clinical support and expertise to NICU nursing staff during complex patient care situations

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care protocols for neonatal patients in the Women's Services Units

  • Maintain regulatory compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal healthcare standards

  • Manage staff scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for optimal unit operations

  • Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes professional excellence and staff satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required

  • Minimum 2+ years of recent (within the last year) acute care NICU leadership experience as Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Texas RN License must be obtained within 60 days of hire date for Compact License holders)

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

  • Demonstrated expertise in neonatal intensive care nursing practice and standards

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to manage clinical operations and lead multidisciplinary healthcare teams

  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and regulatory compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or healthcare administration degree

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification

  • NICU nursing specialty certification (RNC-NIC)

  • Previous experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
