Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitation care in our acute care hospital setting with weekend coverage. This role offers flexible scheduling with weekend focus, allowing you to deliver patient-centered therapy services while enjoying competitive compensation and professional growth opportunities in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and assessments in acute care hospital settings
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals
Administer therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility training
Provide patient and family education on exercise programs, mobility techniques, and discharge planning
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and case managers
Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans to optimize outcomes
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
Educate patients on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and home exercise programs
Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a safe treatment environment
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education opportunities

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program
Current or eligible Physical Therapist license in New York State
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or hospital-based physical therapy preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced acute care environment
Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and documentation
Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance
Capacity for prolonged standing, walking, bending, and patient handling during treatment sessions
Availability to work weekend shifts as part of coverage schedule
