Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitation care in our acute care hospital setting with weekend coverage. This role offers flexible scheduling with weekend focus, allowing you to deliver patient-centered therapy services while enjoying competitive compensation and professional growth opportunities in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and assessments in acute care hospital settings

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals

  • Administer therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility training

  • Provide patient and family education on exercise programs, mobility techniques, and discharge planning

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and case managers

  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans to optimize outcomes

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Educate patients on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and home exercise programs

  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a safe treatment environment

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program

  • Current or eligible Physical Therapist license in New York State

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

  • Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or hospital-based physical therapy preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced acute care environment

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and documentation

  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance

  • Capacity for prolonged standing, walking, bending, and patient handling during treatment sessions

  • Availability to work weekend shifts as part of coverage schedule
