The Director functions as the leader for the Women's and Children's Service Line, with direct management responsibility for the mother baby unit including, antepartum care, lactation services, perinatal education, pediatric unit and a Level II Special Care Nursery.  

  • The Director assumes 24 hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, unit operation and staff function. 

  • S/he ensures that quality nursing/patient care is delivered to all patients on his/her service in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing division structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and the philosophy, goals, objectives, and mission of the hospital and nursing division.

  • The Director will have around 100 direct reports.


 
Who Will Be a Great Fit?  

  • Current NY State RN license.

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • BSN required. Masters in nursing preferred.

  • 5+ years' experience in the clinical area relevant to unit/service patient population, including proven experience in management area.

  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles. Demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care.

  • Possesses ability to assess patient's needs, e.g. clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, timely, and cost-effective patient care.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. Detail attentiveness required.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and concepts of mother-baby care, labor and delivery including OR and PACU care and level II nursery.
