PACU Nurse Manager - Post Anesthesia Care Unit Leadership Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated PACU Nurse Manager to lead our Post Anesthesia Care Unit team. This working manager position offers the opportunity to directly impact patient care while overseeing the day-to-day operations of a dynamic perioperative environment. As a hands-on leader, you will combine clinical expertise with strategic management to ensure optimal patient outcomes and staff performance in our state-of-the-art recovery unit.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily PACU operations, ensuring seamless coordination of post-anesthesia patient care and recovery services
Develop and oversee staffing schedules and assignments to maintain optimal department coverage while meeting productivity and quality targets
Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations for nursing staff, establish professional development goals, and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship
Review, update, and implement departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders in compliance with regulatory standards and best practices
Monitor facility conditions and equipment functionality, proactively addressing maintenance needs and safety concerns
Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and operational efficiency
Serve as a change agent and role model, supporting organizational decisions and fostering a culture of excellence
Manage department budget, inventory control, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations
Participate in continuing education programs and maintain current knowledge of perioperative nursing trends and evidence-based practices
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and surgical services leadership
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Minimum 3-5 years of PACU or critical care nursing experience preferred
Previous nursing leadership or charge nurse experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of post-anesthesia care standards and perioperative nursing practices
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and healthcare management systems
