Operating Room (OR) Nurse Manager - Surgical Services Leadership Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operating Room Nurse Manager to lead our surgical services team. This critical leadership role combines clinical expertise with strategic management to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care in our state-of-the-art operating room. As the OR Nurse Manager, you will oversee all aspects of perioperative nursing operations, staff development, and departmental performance while collaborating with hospital administration and medical staff to maintain the highest standards of surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of professional perioperative nursing care by assessing, planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care for all surgical procedures

  • Collaborate with the OR Educator to develop and implement comprehensive education and training programs for operating room staff

  • Conduct department-specific needs assessments and create targeted staff development initiatives

  • Establish departmental goals, objectives, implementation strategies, and performance evaluation measures

  • Develop, maintain, and interpret operating room policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility including budget management and resource allocation for the surgical department

  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based professional nursing care for all surgical patients

  • Serve as the primary liaison between OR staff, hospital administration, medical staff, and interdepartmental teams

  • Conduct performance appraisals in collaboration with clinical unit leadership

  • Participate actively in management team meetings and strategic planning initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Director, Administration, Finance Department, and unit leadership on operating and capital budget processes

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room leadership experience in an acute care setting

  • Minimum of 5 years of RN staff-level operating room experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact state license required

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in surgical nursing and perioperative care

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team management skills

  • Proven experience in budget management and fiscal oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification strongly preferred

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration

  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance
