Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT)

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) to lead our IT department in Chicago, Illinois. This pivotal role involves overseeing all IT functions, supporting the implementation of a new ERP system (MS Dynamics 365), and managing the company's technology infrastructure, security, and operations. The ideal candidate will act as a key business partner to functional leaders across the company and drive technological advancements to support core business processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • ERP Implementation: Collaborate with business leaders and integrators to implement a new D365 environment with a built-out application ecosystem.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, manage, and develop IT staff, fostering a high-performance team culture.

  • Data Management: Lead the build-out of a data warehouse and comprehensive reporting/BI solution.

  • Technology Operations: Oversee all technology operations (infrastructure, network, desktop support, security) and recommend changes to improve IT service delivery and reliability.

  • Strategic Alignment: Align with senior leadership/steering committee on IT priorities and resource needs.

  • IT Coordination: Ensure data availability and network services with minimal downtime.

  • Policy Development: Devise and establish IT policies that support organizational goals.

  • Security Management: Identify security vulnerabilities and deploy strategic solutions to enhance data security.

  • Vendor Management: Build relationships with vendors and create cost-efficient contracts for procuring IT equipment, software, and services.

  • Budget Control: Manage the IT budget and report on related expenditures.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience: Prior experience as an IT Director or similar role.

  • Leadership: Proven player-coach familiar with working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with a high sense of urgency.

  • Technical Expertise: Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems, specifications, and requirements.

  • Communication: Excellent organizational and leadership skills, including outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Technical Proficiency: Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, etc., and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • ERP Knowledge: Strong preference for prior experience with MS Dynamics 365.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree: BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field.

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a technical role with significant leadership experience.

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent training and experience.
