The Director of Professional Services will report to the CEO and will be tasked with both providing all of the professional services / implementation services for our client company and being a hands-on contributor. This person will not only build and manage the professional services functional area but also bring process, experience, and knowledge to the company as it relates to "how it's done".


The ideal candidate will:
  • Jump in and participate immediately with on-going client implementation engagements
  • Be flexible and focused in the day-to-day undertakings. The person might write a Statement of Work (SOW), update a Project Plan and present an update to the Board of Directors in a single afternoon. Must be willing to take on the lowest imaginable tasks with vigor while driving the function to the right level over the long term
  • Concurrent with participating with client engagements, the person will design and define the processes and delivery model that should be used. The person is to bring in value form their experience, training and knowledge. The expectation is to phase in the adoption and onboarding processes incrementally versus "going dark" for a long stretch and introducing many changes all at once; not big believers in Big Bang. The company appreciates getting done what they can today
  • Manage and evaluate the current talent on the team of 4, determining their roles moving forward within the delivery model. We are open to modifying the team relative to roles and new hires. This person will assess, decide and act in this area and build this functional area to drive accountability
  • Over the course of time, "productize" the services area. This person should be able to "draw circles around" common processes and services that the company can package, market and monetize


Qualifications / Experience
  • The candidate must have 6+ years as an experienced consulting / implementation services professional having a broad understanding of solutions, industry best practices, multiple business processes on behalf of a software company (hands-on and roll up the sleeves), preferably in the CPG marketplace / practice area with industry experience
  • Project management experience with face-to-face dealings with customers from Fortune 1000 companies
  • Demonstrated expertise to deliver functional solutions on moderately complex customer engagements
  • Past experience in implementation projects in the Business Intelligence, ERP or enterprise software industries
  • Articulate, professional, and experienced in working directly with "C level" customers from line-of-business and IT in communicating effectively, managing expectations, gaining commitment and obtaining resources accordingly
  • Working with Sales / Pre-Sales in the "hand-off" process to the implementation team
  • Experienced in productizing services, release management, coordination with development area
  • Experienced with SaaS is a bonus
  • Four-year degree is required
  • Travel will be approximately 15-20%
